Happy New Year! Updates on Developing the Future of FKDP!
Beloveds! So much newness in the past couple months for me. I’ve moved to the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state. I live in a forest, the nearest town is only 9,000 people!
I moved there to cut my expenses by 80% and live down the street from my mom (you’ll recognize her from the workout videos!). It’s beautiful and peaceful up here. I take daily walks in the forest and dance among the trees!
Part of the decision to move was to enable me to spend more time building up Fat Kid Dance Party and creating remote classes for folks who don’t live near a city with body positive fitness options.
For those who don’t know my background, I created this class while I was being financially supported by my ex-fiance. It enabled me to try a bunch of things out—touring, teaching weekly classes, marketing, crowd funding and creating the first video 4 pack.
It’s tough to start a business without capital and it’s a lot easier when you have time to invest because you’re not trading time for money. After she called off the wedding last year I had to shift gears to focusing more on Lyft driving. Staying in Los Angeles became more about working just to be there rather than investing time in what I’m here on this earth to do—make the world safe for people to love themselves.
It’s still on my heart to tour (and I’ll do some, somehow, with the Glowing Goddess Getaway this Spring/Summer)! Hoping to get access to a Class B RV and a friend to drive to make that happen.
